Christine Brown is a mixed media artist in the New York metropolitan area who earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from William Paterson University. She is currently expanding her Regenesis series.

Regenesis is her interpretation of the liminal space occupied by ageing women through the lens of deteriorating sunflowers. These vanitas are ephemeral portraits of ageing, growth, death and rebirth. She envisions these flowers not as decaying scientific specimens but as life forms portraying the extreme breadth of their existence. Her goal is to champion women by way of her art. She encourages women to welcome the gift of ageing as an opportunity to become wholly themselves; and not fall prey to societal views of getting older as being a degenerative affliction. The artist celebrates women’s connection with the cyclical nature of the botanical world, a symbolic conveyance that women do not cease giving life as their reproductive capabilities wane; but continue to change with new purpose, to perpetually give birth to undiscovered elements of one’s Self.
